Terms of Use
Effective 2026-08-08
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the SealMove iOS app and its companion hosted services (together, "SealMove," "we," "us"). By using SealMove, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What SealMove does
SealMove lets you create a photo/video/note record of a rental property's condition at move-in and move-out, sign that record on-device, and optionally share a hosted link so another party (e.g. a landlord or tenant) can view it and record an acknowledgment. It is a documentation tool, not a legal service, a notarization service, or a substitute for professional advice.
2. Eligibility and your responsibility for content
- You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (generally 18 or older) to use SealMove.
- You are solely responsible for what you capture and enter, including whether you have the right to photograph or record the property and the people in it.
- If you enter information about another person — for example a landlord's or tenant's name, or a property address — you represent that you have a reasonable basis for including it (such as an existing landlord-tenant relationship) and that doing so does not violate any agreement or law that applies to you.
- You will not use SealMove to harass, defraud, or misrepresent the condition of a property.
3. No legal advice; no guaranteed outcome
SealMove is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. State compliance reports summarize publicly available statute text as a convenience and carry their own "not legal advice" disclaimer on every page — they are not a substitute for consulting a qualified attorney, and we do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or applicability to your situation. Nothing in the app or these Terms is a promise that a report will be accepted as evidence, will be legally binding, or will help you win a dispute.
4. What "signed," "server-anchored," and "acknowledged" actually mean
- Signing means a cryptographic key stored on your device signs the capture at the moment it's taken. It does not verify who was holding the phone.
- A server-anchored timestamp reflects when a signed record reached our server — not when it was captured, and not that either timestamp is tamper-proof against a compromised device.
- A link acknowledgment records that someone holding the shared link typed a name and clicked "Acknowledge." It is not identity verification, a notarized signature, or proof that the named person personally submitted it.
5. Evidence is not retractable once acknowledged
Once a shared report has been acknowledged by its recipient, the owner cannot delete it in-app. This is intentional: the record's value depends on neither side being able to remove evidence the other side already relied on. Before acknowledgment, the owner can freely delete or revoke a shared link. Hosted reports are automatically deleted after our standard retention period regardless of acknowledgment status (see the Privacy Policy).
6. Purchases
Move-Out reports and state compliance reports may require a one-time, non-subscription purchase (processed by Apple via StoreKit). Purchases are subject to Apple's own refund policies; we do not independently process refunds. Your first Move-Out report on a given account is free; state compliance reports have no free tier.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
SealMove is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any report will be accepted by any third party, court, landlord, or tenant for any purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SealMove and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, income, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the app — including reliance on a report's accuracy, a lost dispute, or a missed statutory deadline. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to hosted services for conduct that violates these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it; see the Privacy Policy for what happens to hosted data after that.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product changes. Material changes will require re-acceptance in the app before continued use of features affected by the change.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
